Adjustable Process Connector (APC) for adapting viscometer and density meter probe to changing process mounting

Rheonics Viscometer SRV With APC

Description

The Rheonics APC is an adjustable process connection system that can be used to clamp an industrial flange, connector, or adapter to the Rheonics SRV and SRD sensor probe’s body without welding. This allows a flexible insertion length (if PTFE back ferrule is used), easy exchange of process connections, and easy assembly and disassembly of the sensor probe from the process.

The APC (Adjustable Process Connector) is designed for ambient pressure conditions. It is attached to the sensor probe’s 30mm diameter section by a compression fitting while the flange or adapter is fixed to the APC with a wedge lock nut. The accessory requires two O-rings for correct sealing and connection. The flange or connector requires a machined hole with a diameter of approximately 1.66” (42.2mm), an OD bigger than 3” (75 mm), and a thickness smaller than 1” (25 mm) to fit on the APC. See the interface drawing in section below.

The minimum insertion length with the APC is 80 mm and the maximum insertion length will be determined by the total length of the probe. The insertion length is defined as the distance between the probe tip and flange.

Why use this part?

  • Can be used to attach a flange or process connection on the sensor probe without welding
  • Allows a variable insertion length by moving the APC along the probe shaft. Use PTFE back ferrule for variability of insertion length, or the SS back ferrule for fixed insertion length.
  • Exchange process connections easily. This allows different installation possibilities with same probe. The flange can be supplied by Rheonics or the end user.
  • Adjustable insertion length for the probe is especially useful during early tests.
  • Can be used to clamp the probe to an external structure e.g. mobile arm for portable open tanks and drums. See example drawings in download section.
  • Use with long insertion probes (-X5) and teletube variants (-X8 or -TT).

Installation instructions

APC Exploded Parts-S
  • If a flange is used, machine the flange to be compatible with the APC. See interface drawing for flanges with Rheonics APC.

  • Order the PTFE Back Ferrule when adjustable insertion length is required. Order the Stainless Steel (SS) Back Ferrule for creating fixed insertion length of the probe.

  • Refer to the assembly instruction to use the APC with your rheonics probes.
