DESIGN

Rheonics SRV Stargate Sensor is an inline viscometer sensor that uses a Wafer Cell Probe design that places the sensor probe sensing element parallel to the process pipeline. This design has key advantages in cleanability, as it reduces the chances of deposits around the sensing element, and improves the probe’s resistance against high loads from high-viscosity fluids at high rates. All Rheonics SRVSG variants are hermetically sealed, have no moving parts, and are available in pure Stainless Steel 316L body material.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE
  • Rheonics SRV Stargate sensor measures viscosity by means of a balanced torsional resonator (BTR) built in the probe.

  • The more viscous the fluid, the higher the damping of the resonator. By measuring the damping, the product of viscosity and density is output by the sensor.

  • The resonator is both excited and sensed by means of an electromagnetic transducer mounted in the sensor’s body.

  • Viscosity of fluid is measured by the rheonics patented sensing and evaluation electronics and stable, high accuracy and repeatable readings are obtained based on rheonics’ proven gated phase-locked loop technology.
